Working alongside main contractor, Vinci, HLN were appointed as architects by the Ministry of Justice to design and refurbish an existing building into a modern, fit for purpose building for local people, legal professionals, judiciary, courts and tribunals staff bringing the new Civil, Family and Tribunals (CFT) courthouse into one location in Newcastle City Centre.

As part of the government overall investment of £1bn in reforming courts and tribunals, this project made significant improvements to the condition and design of the building, improving the experience of visiting or working in the court, leading to better value for taxpayers by reducing operating costs and increasing the efficiency of the estate.
