Phase 1 of the largest capital expenditure for Rugby School in a generation, provided a State of Art Modern Languages facility that has been designed to achieve BREEAM “Excellent” Rating. The site is located within the sensitive Rugby School Conservation area and is surrounded by residential properties.

The building houses 11 classrooms, 2 language laboratories, resource suite, office areas, interview rooms and associated ancillary spaces. Within 2 wings of accommodation, positioned at right angles around a landscaped external courtyard and accessed via a gated “porte cochere” from Horton Crescent.

The three storey blocks form the site boundaries to the north & east, creating a secure external space at the heart of the site. The design of the building followed a period of consultation with students, staff and Local Authority and was enthusiastically received by all key stakeholders.
