HLN were appointed as project architects for the Glamorgan Cricket Club ground development at Sophia Gardens.

The first phase included the cricket school and riverside stands being completed in time for the millennium. Design continued, providing 16,000 spectator seats on stands forming a bowl around the 8.5 acre site incorporating a new Pavilion, Grandstand, Media Centre, Hospitality Suites, Medical Centre, concession areas, shop and toilets.

On the 3rd of September 2008 whilst partially complete the Stadium hosted a One Day International between England and South Africa. On the 8th of July 2009 it was host to the first match of The Ashes series between England and Australia in the Five One Day Internationals. This made the SWALEC Stadium the 100th Test match venue.
