Working in collaboration with Anchor Trust and Concept Developments Ltd, HLN were the designers for this 7m Extra Care development built on the site of the former Rounds Timber Yard in Tipton. Forming part of the wider Neptune Park regeneration, the scheme was a winner in the Apartments category of the West Midlands Built in Quality awards 2009.

The one and two bedroom apartments and bungalows are designed to allow over 55′s to live independently in a secure and welcoming environment. A communal garden, lounge and library, create a sense of community and the contemporary design is both striking and functional whilst maintaining a human scale for residents, staff and visitors alike.

This timber frame designed building achieved an Eco Homes ‘Very Good’ rating and was commended for the recycling of over 600 tonnes of waste material from the site after Victorian artefacts were found during excavations by Birmingham City Council Archaeological Team.
